Isa 43:1
“But now, this is what the Lord says—
he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you”

How awesome it is to be created and formed by the all-knowing, all-powerful, ever-present holy God of heaven. Every detail thoughtfully planned by Him. No mistakes on His part. Even as He formed us, He is not yet done with us. Throughout our lives, He continues to shape us as the Potter and we, the clay.

Isa 64:8 Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.

Jer 18:6b “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.

The clay gets shaped according to the Master Potter’s design if it is completely yielded and malleable. When we are like unyielding and hard clay, it is harder for Him to accomplish His design in us.

Yet when we fumble, God is there to work through our mistakes, broken pieces, and messes. When we give these to Him, He can work good out of them.

He says, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you”.

Merriam Webster defines “redeemed” as:

1: to buy back : to get or win back
2: to free from what distresses or harms: as
a : to free from captivity by payment of ransom
b : to extricate from or help to overcome something detrimental
c : to release from blame or debt : clear
d : to free from the consequences of sin
3: to change for the better : reform
4: repair, restore
5 a : to free from a lien by payment of an amount secured thereby
b (1) : to remove the obligation of by payment
(2) : to exchange for something of value
6 a : to atone for
b (1) : to offset the bad effect of (2) : to make worthwhile : retrieve

Whichever definition we take, it’s all good to be redeemed by the Holy God of Israel!

Thank You Lord for creating us, for redeeming us, for freeing us from captivity, for winning us back, for not treating us as our sins deserve, for changing us for the better, for repairing and restoring us, for paying the ransom for our lives, for paying the debt for our sins, for providing Jesus to atone for them, for retrieving us and making our trials, our lives worthwhile in Jesus’s name.
