I love beautiful, cute, and adorable things… little huggable bunnies and colored eggs. I also enjoy the thought of carrying a basket and hunting eggs for Easter; we used to enjoy doing that when the kids were small.
The YouVersion Verse of the Day several days ago below, though, reminds me how far away from the message of the Resurrection these otherwise not-bad things are.
I have nothing against cute bunnies and eggs in themselves but the verse reminded me that in preparing for Easter, may I not forget its whole point that because Jesus died, was buried And rose again, in His resurrection we also have the hope of our true life after this physical one.
The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly. May the enemy not succeed in diminishing, trivializing, and diverting from the true message of Easter by distracting us into party activities which are fun but make us lose out on true life.
