From YouVersion yesterday morning:
Prov 15:4 The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.
Lord, help me to speak words that bring forth life and encouragement, healing and building up of what is good. Help me to be an instrument of peace, love, and joy through the words that I speak. Please cleanse my heart of anything that is not from you for out of the overflow of my heart, my mouth will speak. Help me store up good, help me to store up Your Word in my heart so that they will bear fruit through the words that overflow from my heart and out of my mouth.
From Edith’s devotion sharing yesterday afternoon:
Proverbs 10:11 (NIV) The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
Dear Lord, help me to hunger for righteousness through Your Word that it may transform my mind and teach me what is right and wrong. Help me to internalize righteousness in my heart that I will love it. Help me to apply it so that I will think, desire, act, and speak in righteousness in alignment with Your will for Your children to be holy (1Pet1:1). Please help my mouth to be a source of life and goodness so that what comes out of it will be of value to You.
Proverbs 18:21 (NIV) 21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Lord please be the Master of my tongue. By Your almighty Holy Spirit, please touch it, make it reverent of You. Make it speak words that are from You and reject words from the enemy. Help my tongue to be Your instrument. Give me wisdom to discern what is from You. Please muzzle my mouth until I am able to pray through my situation and I have gained wisdom on what You want me to say. Please cleanse, guard, and protect my testimony from the words that come out of my mouth so that people will not judge You by my inability to follow You correctly or consistently. May Your name be praised.
Lord, thank You that You are our Healer, Restorer, Teacher, Guide, Protector, Shepherd who are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in us. May we be faithful in our worship of You in spirit and in truth through the words we speak. You are at work in our lives. You are causing every circumstance in our lives to bring about good. We give thanks to You because You are good and Your love endures forever in Jesus’s name amen.
From Mia’s devotion text this morning:
Your words have tremendous power. No matter what you may be facing today, the words of your mouth can set the course for your victory or defeat. You decide by what you say. When you wake up with an attitude of faith and expectancy and declare God’s Word, you will be strengthened and empowered by His Spirit. But at the same time, if you go around talking about your problems or defeat, it drains your faith and sets your focus on the wrong direction. That’s why it is important to take inventory of what you are saying. Declare that God is your refuge and strength. Declare God’s Word. Declare that He is for you. Keep the weeds out of your heart by letting go of bitterness and choosing to forgive. Stay in step with God with our words and actions and receive His strength and power to be all He has called you to be.
